The AAAM Humanitarian Medical Mission
Recruitment of Volunteers

Dear Doctors:

As part of our corporate social responsibility efforts, I, on behalf of the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (AAAM) would like to seek medical volunteers for an upcoming medical mission. AAAM is dedicated to the teaching of aesthetic medicine in the US, Asia Pacific and Middle East. To date, the AAAM has trained over 3,000 doctors through courses in 14 cities.

This medical mission will be headed by Dr. Fong Poh Him, a leading plastic surgeon and a champion of medical missions. His leadership is exemplified by his numerous medical missions in the Asia Pacific region that includes China, India, Myanmar, Indonesia, Cambodia, The Philippines and more. His medical missions have in fact, garnered much media attention and were featured in several television productions.

In congruence to one of AAAM's objectives in "Advancing the Art and Science of Aesthetic Medicine", I strongly encourage doctors, who are practicing aesthetic medicine to form part of this medical mission. This will be an excellent platform for you to provide medical treatment on site and consequently advance your skills by helping those who do not have the means to afford good health. By coming together, camaraderie can also be fostered amongst those of you, who share an altruistic vision of making a positive impact to our social environment.

This upcoming mission will take the volunteers group, comprising a maximum of three doctors, to Nepal. It has been planned for the month of November 2011. The duration will be approximately one week.

(The submission dateline of this volunteers' recruitment will be on 22 September 2011)

I hope to seek your kind contributions in volunteering your time, and paying for your personal costs of transportation, accommodation and meals.

It is a long-standing tradition in medicine that doctors have an ethical duty to care for all patients who fall within the scope of their expertise. AAAM and I strongly believe that the duty of care for doctors should go beyond borders and to the sick, poor and needy. We urge you to join us in this mission to extend our humanitarian efforts to those suffering and the under-privileged.

Thank you.

Dr Michel Delune
President
American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine
